Welcome To Our World

Last week, in our first ever blog post, we talked to you all about our brand new website and what you can expect from PD Designs in the future (you can read that last post here, just in case you missed it), but for those of you who’ve never met us before, we thought that this week we’d do a quick introduction piece, just to tell you a little bit more about who we are and what we do.

So without further ado, may we present to you the weird and wonderful world of PD Designs…

Who Are We?

PD Designs was set up in 1994 (which to us seems like yesterday, but was actually 23 years ago now!) by us – husband and wife team, Joe and Janine Dunne. Having experienced other kitchen and bedroom companies from both the inside and out, all we knew was that there was a better way to do things, so we set out with the one goal of creating a company that built quality products and offered customers a genuine service. It sounds simple doesn’t it, but you’d be amazed by how many other businesses in this industry aren’t like us.

We must have got something right though, because over two decades later, we’re still here doing what we do best and offering our customers exactly what they want. Still a family run firm, we’ve managed to stay true to our roots whilst building the business up; offering fitted bedrooms in addition to fitted kitchens, expanding the team and taking on new fitters and tradesmen, growing our workshop and showroom in Nelson…over the years PD Designs has changed a lot, but what we do and what we offer hasn’t.

Honest Northern Values

In our honest opinion, if you ask us why we think we’re still here after all these years, we’d have to say it’s because we offer our customers good, honest, traditional Northern values.

We’re straight talking; we won’t take you all round the houses and try and sell you stuff you don’t need, but we will tell you straight what your room renovation will involve. We’re honest; the price we quote you is the price you pay, no sneaky charges being put on at the end, and we’ll tell you at the beginning how long it’s going to take and what it will involve. We’re uncomplicated; when you tell us what you want, we do our best to find a way of letting you have it, no matter how tricky it is, we don’t try and sell you what we think you need or what’s best for us. And best of all we’re polite; we won’t tread all over your clean carpets with our muddy boots, eat all your biscuits, have umpteen brew breaks every day and then leave at 3:30 pm without tidying up after ourselves.

We tidy up after ourselves at the end of each day.

In short, if you choose PD Designs to design and build your new fitted kitchen or bedroom, then we take that as an honour, and we do everything in our power to make sure you get the level of service you deserve, not to mention a quality fitted product at the end of it. The fact that some of our very first customers are now returning to us almost 20 years later to re-do their kitchens or bedrooms means that we must be something better than the competition at least!

A Quality Product

And that’s exactly what we do try and do here at PD Designs, because of course we completely understand that we could be the nicest workmen in the world, but if the kitchen or bedroom you’re left with at the end of the day isn’t up to scratch, then none of it would be worth a damn.

We accept that we might be a little bit more expensive than what you can get at B&Q or Magnet (not that there’s anything wrong with those companies!), but that’s because you’re getting so much more for your money. You won’t find a mass produced, flat-pack anything in our workshop, where every kitchen or bathroom we fit is put together by us, by hand, to our own designs and specifications. Every single unit we fit is made using traditional carpentry methods and built to last, using real materials.

That’s why it’s taking our repeat customers 20 years to come back to us…with PD Designs, you get a room that will stand the test of time, not cupboard doors that will be falling off in two years. Thanks to our exceptional craftsmanship, you’ll only be changing it because it’s gone out of fashion, not because it’s gone beyond repair.

Come And See What We Can Do

So if PD Designs sounds like the sort of company that you’d like to work with for your next big home improvement scheme, then why not pop down to our showroom in Nelson, near Burnley? You’ll be able to take a look over a selection of different kitchen and bedroom styles and get an idea of what we can do, and take a detailed look at all the extra little features and appliances you could incorporate, before sitting down with one of our expert designers to plan your ideal room.

Alternatively, we can arrange to come and see you in your own home to talk over your wishes, and bring a few tools and tips to help you get a feel for the room you could potentially achieve. Either way, we’ll sit down with you over a nice cup of tea and talk about what you want and how we can make it happen.
